About this spot
A small lake known as a signature landscape of Yufuin, where hot spring water and river water blend together. Since hot spring water gushes from the lake bottom, misty steam sometimes rises from the water surface in the early morning and evening, creating a fantastical sight. A promenade is well-maintained around the lakeside, allowing you to take a leisurely stroll while enjoying the greenery of the trees and the glitter of the water's surface. The scenery with Mount Yufu in the background is a symbolic spot that brings the peaceful moment unique to Yufuin.

2026年8月15日(土)開催、宮川河畔を会場にした第41回ゆふいん盆地花火のクライマックスです。由布岳をはじめとする山々に囲まれた盆地という地形のため、打ち上げの音が山肌に反響し、体に響くような迫力を感じられるのがこの大会ならではの魅力。温泉街の夜景と花火が重なり合う、由布院らしい情緒あふれる光景も見どころです。夏の夜、盆地に響く音と光を家族でじっくり味わえる特別な時間です。
Tips
荒天時は中止や延期の可能性があるため、当日は由布市の公式発表を確認しましょう。終了後は駅や道路が混み合うため、少し時間を置いてから帰路につくのがおすすめです。夜は足元が暗いので懐中電灯やスマホのライトを準備しておくと安心です。
Tips
About 10 minutes walk from Yuno-Tsubo Street. You can walk around the lake in about 15 minutes. There are also tea houses by the lakeside, so it's recommended to stop by while taking a rest.
Best time to visit
About 1 hour 15 minutes required. As it approaches evening, the steaming mist is said to be more visible.
