About this spot

The riverbed of the Nagara River running through the center of Gujo Hachiman is tonight's fireworks viewing venue. As evening approaches, food stall lights come on, bustling with shops selling local gourmet food and fireworks merchandise. Once you've picked up takeout dinner, spread out your picnic mat to secure a spot, and wait for the show to begin while enjoying the cool river breeze blowing through the mountains. Watching the sky's color change as the sun sets is a pleasure unique to this time of day.

Tips

It's about a 10-minute walk from the Gujo Hachiman Museum. On the fireworks festival day, both the riverbed and surrounding roads are very crowded, so securing a spot early is recommended. Restrooms will be busy, so use them in the early evening.

Best time to visit

Approximately 2 hours required. The twilight colors reflected on the river surface are beautiful at this time.
