About this spot

Built in the mountains of Oshu City, this rockfill dam is one of the largest of its kind in Japan. From the observation plaza, you can see up close the grand scale of the embankment, piled up as if covering the mountainside. The contrast between the calm surface of the dam lake and the lush green mountains around it is also a highlight. It's right by tonight's fireworks venue, so enjoy the majestic scenery during the day.

Tips

Within walking distance of the venue. The summer sun is strong, so bring a hat and something to drink.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour needed. It's recommended to view it in the clear air from morning through early afternoon.
