Have an early dinner at a farmhouse restaurant near Isawa Dam before heading to the venue. On the day of the fireworks display, the area around the venue gets crowded as evening approaches, so it's reassuring to finish your meal around this time. After eating, head to the special venue on the east side of Isawa Dam and spread out a leisure sheet to secure your spot. It gets noticeably cooler once the sun sets in these high-altitude mountains, so it's a good idea to bring something to layer on. Relax and watch the dam lake's surface glow with the sunset colors while you wait for the show to begin.

Tips

About a 5-minute drive from the Oshu Lake Exchange Hall. The restaurant can get crowded on the day of the fireworks display, so it's reassuring to arrive early. The road to the venue after your meal runs through the mountains, so allow plenty of time to get there.

Best time to visit

About 2 hours 45 minutes needed. This is a beautiful time to see the dam lake's colors change at dusk.
