About this spot

An observation spot along the coast of Ohama-cho, Innoshima, offering a view of Yaeko-jima Island floating offshore together with the Innoshima Ohashi Bridge of the Shimanami Kaido. This view is one of the Eight Scenic Views of Innoshima (Innoshima Hakkei), a selection of the island's finest scenery, and Yaeko-jima is an uninhabited island made up of two rocky islets, one large and one small. As evening approaches, food stalls line the surrounding area and the whole island fills with festival spirit. Settle in on the beach and finish your pre-fireworks meal with stall food or takeout dinner. The way the calm waters of the Seto Inland Sea turn amber as the sun sets is a sight unique to this time of day.

Tips

About 15 minutes by car from Innoshima Flower Center. The area around the beach gets very crowded from evening onward on the day of the festival, so securing a spot early is recommended. It's reassuring to buy your food and drinks early.
