Next stop: Watch fireworks color the night sky from the riverbed of the clear Arakawa RiverAbout this spot
A public golf course run by Murakami City, with 18 holes spread across the riverbed of the Class-A river Arakawa. The course is generally flat and easy to play even for beginners, which means the wind blowing along the river greatly affects your score. It's a location where you can feel up close the flow of the Arakawa, celebrated as “Japan's finest clear river.” Tonight's fireworks festival venue is also this Arakawa riverbed, and toward evening it starts to bustle with people securing their viewing spots. Spread out your takeout dinner and wait for the show to begin while listening to the murmur of the river.
Tips
Restaurants around the venue get crowded from evening onward, so it's reassuring to pick up food in advance at a roadside station or similar. Have insect repellent spray ready by this time too.
Best time to visit
About 2 hours 15 minutes needed. Around sunset, the river surface is dyed in evening colors, a lovely time
