About this spot

Settaya is one of Nagaoka City's most representative historic districts, home to miso, soy sauce, and sake breweries dating back to the Edo period. Charming earthen storehouses and chimneys still remain, and simply walking through gives you a sense of the distinctive atmosphere and aroma of a brewing town. Some breweries offer tours and shopping, making it a great spot for a leisurely historical stroll with the family.

Tips

About a 15-minute drive from Yukyuzan Park. Most of the streetscape can be walked freely, but some breweries have set visiting hours, so it's a good idea to check in advance.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour 15 minutes. Late afternoon brings softer sunlight that's more comfortable for walking.
