About this spot

Every year from late April to late May, about 500 carp streamers (koinobori) swim in the air around Aoi Bridge over the Kamogawa River. These colorful streamers fluttering against the blue sky are a beloved sign of spring in Kamo City, drawing crowds of families on weekends. Tonight in summer, that same Kamogawa riverbed becomes the venue for the fireworks display. Spread out a takeout dinner and wait for the show to begin while listening to the murmur of the river. As the sun lowers, the riverbed fills with spectators, so it's a good idea to find a comfortable spot early.

Tips

Restaurants near the venue get crowded from evening onward, so it's reassuring to pick up food beforehand at a roadside station or similar. Be sure to have insect repellent ready by this time as well.

Best time to visit

About 2 hours 15 minutes. Around sunset, the river's surface is dyed with evening colors, a pleasant time to be here.
