About this spot

A roadside station in Kosuge Village (小菅村), the village at the source of the Tama River (多摩川), lined with items unique to Kosuge such as local wasabi and konjac. It's just the right size to rest tired legs after a walk, and the snack corner lets you fill up a little. Spend a relaxed afternoon browsing for souvenirs before the fireworks. Chatting with locals here can give you a glimpse into life in Kosuge Village, making it a nice rest stop along the trip.

Tips

Within walking distance of Hikawa Valley (氷川渓谷). It can get crowded during summer vacation, so an early visit is recommended. If you buy fresh food, a cooler bag is reassuring. Next, move on to the shopping street in front of Okutama Station (奥多摩駅) for dinner.
