About this spot

This is a locally beloved, gently sloping beach in the town of Mikuriya (御厨町), Matsuura City. Its charm lies in the calm waves, which let even families with small children enjoy playing in the water safely. During summer vacation it's lively with families, and it's also a great place to relax on the sandy shore. It's close to the town of Shisa, making it a good distance for spending part of the afternoon at the sea before heading to the next stop.

Tips

About a 15-minute drive from the shopping street in front of Shisa Station (志佐駅前商店街). Shower and changing-facility availability varies by season, so checking in advance is recommended. Sun protection is a must, as sunlight can be strong. It's about a 15-minute drive to the next stop, Umi no Furusato-kan (海のふるさと館).

Best time to visit

About 1 hour 30 minutes. Early afternoon tends to be relatively uncrowded and easy to enjoy.
