This area in front of JR Akashina Station (JR明科駅) is close to the venue for the fireworks display near the Gohoden Reservoir (御宝田遊水池) along the Hotaka River (穂高川). Local diners and shops are scattered around, making it a good place to fill up before the fireworks display. Once you've had dinner, head over to the Hotaka River and secure a viewing spot. In the calm atmosphere near the station, you can spend the time before the show starts at a relaxed pace.
Tips
About a 15-minute drive from the Chihiro Art Museum Azumino (安曇野ちひろ美術館). The surrounding roads get crowded from the evening onward on the day of the fireworks display. It's a good idea to pick up food and drinks early.
Best time to visit
About 1 hour 30 minutes. Around 5 PM tends to be relatively calm for a meal
