Held on Sunday, August 9, 2026, the Hokkai Soran Festival takes place at Yoichi Port (a change from the previous venue beside JR Yoichi Station). It runs from 16:00 to 20:00. The performance, in which dancers move to the powerful calls of the 'Soran Bushi' and the rhythm of taiko drums, has an intensity that draws viewers in. Food stalls line the venue too, and enjoying a snack while watching the dancing is part of the festival's charm. Fireworks are also scheduled around 19:15, coloring the night sky over the port. It's a lively, dance-filled close to a day in Yoichi, a town known for whisky and fruit.

Tips

In 2026 the venue has changed to Yoichi Port, so be careful not to confuse it with the previous venue beside JR Yoichi Station. Traffic restrictions and crowding are expected around the venue on the day of the festival, so using public transportation is recommended. Bring small change for the food stalls, and a light jacket can be comfortable since the sea breeze can feel chilly at night.
