A regular ferry dock linking Kasaoka Port and offshore islands, the journey to Shiraishi Island takes 30-40 minutes by ship. Stepping onto the deck reveals the Seto Inland Sea's characteristic calm waters and scenery of small islands passing by, making the sea crossing itself part of the journey's enjoyment. During summer vacation periods, the crowds of returning travelers and swimmers bring activity, creating a tangible shift into island time.

白石踊は、源平合戦で命を落とした武将たちを弔うために始まったと伝わる盆踊りで、国の重要無形民俗文化財に指定されています。2026年は8月13日から16日まで4夜連続で開催され(13日から15日は白石公民館、16日は白石島海水浴場が会場)、太鼓と音頭に合わせてゆったりと踊る優雅な振り付けが特徴です。踊り手たちが幾重にも輪を作り、月明かりと提灯の灯りの下で夜通し踊り続ける光景は、島全体が一体となる夏の風物詩。見るだけでなく、輪の外側から手ぶりを真似て一緒に踊ってみるのもおすすめです。初日となるこの夜は、島の人々の熱気を間近に感じられる特別な時間になります。

会場周辺の駐車スペースは限られるため、フェリーでの来島が安心です。帰りの最終便の時刻は事前に確認しておきましょう。夜は島内が暗くなるので、懐中電灯があると足元が安心です。
