A premier shrine in Tokyo dedicated to Sugawara Michizane, the deity of learning and academic success. The ema (wooden prayer plaques) covering the shrine are remarkably numerous, filled with wishes for exam success and personal growth. While known as a plum tree sanctuary, the lush green summer grounds offer a serene atmosphere perfect for morning worship. Combined with Yushima Seido, you'll fully immerse yourself in the learning-centered atmosphere of the Yushima area.

2026年の神田明神納涼祭りは8月7日から9日までの3日間、11時から21時まで、江戸総鎮守として親しまれる神田神社(神田明神)の境内で開催されます。境内には祭り期間中、屋台が並び、朝から夜まで参拝客や地元の人々でにぎわいます。初日となる7日は開門の11時から気軽に立ち寄れる時間帯で、日中はゆったりと、夕方以降は屋台の灯りに包まれた夜の雰囲気を楽しめます。朝から神田・湯島エリアを巡ってきた一日の締めくくりに、一日を通して開催される納涼祭りをじっくり満喫できます。

Tips

境内は日中と夜とで異なる表情を見せます。屋台での食べ歩きにはウェットティッシュや小銭があると便利です。夕方以降は参拝客が増えるため、混雑に注意しましょう。JR御茶ノ水駅・秋葉原駅から徒歩圏内です。

Tips

About 10 minutes on foot from Yushima Seido. Worship is free; goshuin (shrine stamps) available at the shrine office. Mornings are relatively quiet, ideal for unhurried prayers.
