The 2026 Azabu-Juban Cooling Summer Festival runs for two days, August 22-23, from 3 PM to 9 PM, with the entire Azabu-Juban Shopping Street as its venue. As one of Minato Ward's signature summer celebrations, the traditional and contemporary shops lining the street transform into a festive stage attracting families and locals alike. The opening day is special, offering long evening hours—the early afternoon provides a relatively relaxed atmosphere, while from sunset onward, the entire street glows with lantern lights and buzzes with festive energy.

Tips

During the festival, the shopping street becomes a pedestrian zone and gets very crowded. If using a stroller, watch for congestion. Azabu-Juban Station (麻布十番駅) on the Oedo Line and Namboku Line is nearby.

Best time to visit

3 PM to 9 PM. After 6 PM, when lanterns light up, the street reaches peak liveliness.
