"Waraku Odori" Bon Dance Passed Down by Local People

The 2026 Nikko Waraku Odori festival takes place on August 7 from 7 PM to 9 PM at Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. Nikko Works in Kiyotaki-cho, Nikko City. This Bon dance has been passed down by local people in an area that once developed alongside copper mining. As lights illuminate the mountain-surrounded Kiyotaki area, a sense of community unity fills the night. As the finale of a day spent visiting world heritage temples and gorges, this grassroots summer festival offers a warmth distinctly different from historic temples.
