About this spot

A station on the Watarase Keikoku Railway, which runs along the gorge from Kiryu City in Gunma Prefecture, where a retro wooden station building is still in active use today. The sight of a single-car diesel train gliding leisurely into the platform is a scene full of the travel charm unique to this mountain town. You can spend a quiet moment woven together by the greenery of the gorge and the railway tracks, while feeling the history of the railway that once flourished with transport related to the copper mine. It's just a few minutes by car from the festival venue.

Tips

Since this is a local line with infrequent service, timing your visit with a train's arrival makes for easier photos. The inside of the station building is small, so view from outside when crowded. There are vending machines, but no restaurants nearby, so prepare your own drinks in advance.

About 15 minutes. As evening approaches, the afternoon sun streaming into the gorge adds to the atmosphere
