A rural mountain festival featuring vibrant decorative constructions illuminated on the temple grounds
About this spot
A longstanding summer tradition preserved within the grounds of Matsubaraji Temple in Nasu Karasuyama City. Planned for August 30, 2026. The temple grounds are adorned with colorful ceremonial decorations and ornaments bearing wishes for abundant harvests and good health. When illuminated by paper lantern light in the evening, the atmosphere is distinctly different from large urban festivals—warm, simple, and authentically rural. Experiencing this event, carefully preserved by local residents, creates a special evening for the whole family.
