A Grand Sengoku-era Epic Unfolding Throughout the Castle Town
About this spot
A community summer festival held at the site of the castle town where feudal lord Asakura clan ruled Echizen for five generations (103 years). With the vast nationally designated Special Historic Site as the venue, Sengoku-era atmosphere comes alive through various events, and as dusk falls, the valley scenery is bathed in the festival's fervor. Experiencing a festival in the actual historic site is unique to Ichijodani, and will surely be an unforgettable night for history-loving children.

Tips
The ruins have uneven footing in places, so a flashlight is helpful for moving around after dark. Parking is limited in the venue area, so public transportation or shuttle bus use is recommended. Check with event organizers regarding cancellation due to bad weather.
Best time to visit
Most impressive from 6 PM onward, as dusk falls and bonfires are lit.
