About this spot

Iiyama City, also known as the Town of Temples, is home to 22 temples, and Chuonji is one of the historic old temples among them. Its dignified main hall, fitting for a region of heavy snowfall, and quietly maintained grounds convey, even today, the history of Iiyama's development as a castle town and temple town. It's a perfect place to spend a quiet, calm moment in the midst of your walk through town.

Tips

Accessible on foot or by car from the Takahashi Mayumi Doll Museum. Since the grounds are also a place of daily religious life, please observe manners and view quietly.

Best time to visit

About 40 minutes. The soft afternoon light lets you calmly savor the atmosphere of the temple grounds.
