A prestigious facility used for lodging and rest by feudal lords and nobility traveling the Nakasendo during sankin-kotai (feudal lord's procession to Edo). Rooms including the elevated tatami chamber have been preserved and are open to the public, making it one of Nawa Town's most precious historical structures. Touring the honjin in the calm daytime hours before it becomes the site of the evening festival allows for a deeper appreciation of its transformation at night.

中山道の宿場町・和田宿の本陣周辺を会場に開かれる「ふる里和田宿宿場まつり」です。2026年は8月14日(金)に開催され、本陣周辺に屋台が並び、山あいの宿場町らしい素朴で温かな賑わいに包まれます。このコースでは、昼間に本陣を見学した同じ場所が、夜には屋台の灯りに彩られた祭りの会場へと姿を変える様子を体感できる構成にしています。旅人が行き交った江戸時代の宿場町の面影と、現代の祭りの賑わいが重なり合う、長和町ならではの夏の夜を過ごせます。

Tips

まつり当日は本陣周辺が混雑し、駐車スペースが限られることがあります。屋台の出店内容は年により変わるため、最新情報は現地または公式案内で確認しましょう。山あいのため夜は気温が下がりやすく、羽織ものがあると安心です。

Accessible by car from Roadside Station Marmelo no Eki Nagato. Admission fees may apply. Many rooms inside have tatami flooring, so wear comfortable socks and appropriate clothing.
