The Aomori Nebuta Festival is Northeast Japan's premier summer celebration, held in the city center. In 2026, this 6-day event runs from August 2-7, featuring colossal nebuta floats reaching up to 5 meters tall, crafted from washi paper and illuminated from within. Accompanied by traditional whistles and drums, the floats parade through the streets surrounded by energetic dancers chanting "Rasseera, Rasseera!" – the festival's most memorable moment. Spectators can join the excitement and experience the peak of Northeast Japan's summer. This course highlights the opening night of August 2nd.
