About this spot
Held from July 31 to August 4, 2026, this is one of Northeast Japan's most prestigious summer festivals, designated as an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property. Coordinating with the sacred palanquin processions of the three shrines, including Ogami Shrine, townspeople bring out elaborately decorated floats they've designed. Mechanical puppet figures and impressive sculptures move and excite the audience. As the floats proceed to the accompaniment of flutes, drums, and hand bells, the entire city comes together to create a magnificent summer pageant.
