About this spot

Held August 2-3 in 2026, this Neputa festival colors the summer of Hirakawa City. From in front of Hiragi Station (平賀駅) to near the Daily Yamazaki Hirakawa store (デイリーヤマザキ平川店), Neputa floats crafted by local neighborhood associations and children's groups slowly parade to the accompaniment of flute and drum music. Unlike the large-scale festivals of Hirosaki or Goshogawara, its charm lies in the close-knit feeling between familiar participants and spectators, letting you thoroughly savor the warmth of a summer festival passed down in a small Tsugaru town.

Best time to visit

Starts at 7:00 PM. After sunset, when the lanterns really glow, is the most rewarding time to watch.
