Nyuemonjima Island (仁右衛門島) is a small island floating just off the Futomi coast, known as a rare island that is still privately owned. Riding the ferry across is itself a special attraction for children, and the island has well-kept walking paths where you can stroll while taking in the rocky shore and sea views. A legend says that Minamoto no Yoritomo (源頼朝) once hid here, so this historic island lets you touch on both nature and history. Savor a little sense of adventure before your beach time.
Tips
A round-trip ferry fare is required. There are rocky stretches on the island, so comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Allowing extra time in your plan also makes the move to the aquarium smoother.
Best time to visit
About 1 hour. The calm sea conditions of the morning suit the ferry crossing
