Just outside JR Atami Station, this charming old-fashioned shopping street stretches from the station plaza toward the sea. Hot spring buns, mandarin orange daifuku, dried fish samples, black eggs—Atami specialties and street food line both sides of the street. On the evening of the fireworks festival, crowds swell dramatically, so enjoy the street at a leisurely pace in the early afternoon. Pick up souvenirs here and store them in a coin locker at Atami Station so you can move about freely until evening. As you exit the shopping street, bus stops heading toward the sea are conveniently located, making access to the next attraction easy.

Tips

1 minute walk from Atami Station. Many dried fish shops offer free samples, so you can easily fill your stomach by sampling while strolling—no need for a separate lunch. Purchase souvenirs here and store them in the station's coin locker. On fireworks day, coin lockers fill up quickly, so securing one early is recommended.
