Minami Ashiya Beach Water Park (南芦屋浜ウォーターパーク) is a free water-play facility next to Ashiya City General Park. It has fountains spraying from a wall and water cascading down like a waterfall, designed for enjoying contact with water rather than swimming as in a pool. In 2026 it operates year-round from Thursday, January 1 through Thursday, December 31, with hours from 9:30 to 16:30. Being able to enjoy the water not just in summer but throughout the seasons is a rare feature unique to this spot. Stone and tile surfaces get very slippery when wet, so have children wear non-slip water shoes and agree beforehand not to run. The facility may be shut down for inspections, so it's reassuring to check its operating status before heading out.

Tips

Admission is free, and you can play while moving back and forth with the neighboring Ashiya City General Park. Bringing a plastic bag for each person's wet clothes and sandals makes the trip home more comfortable. There's little shade by the sea, so reapply sunscreen frequently. Since it closes at 16:30, getting into the water at least once by 3pm ensures you get to play properly.

Best time to visit

Going in after 2pm coincides with softer sunlight, letting you play at ease until closing at 16:30
