Odori Park Wading Stream (大通公園 遊水路)

The Odori Park Wading Stream (大通公園 遊水路) is a free waterside in the center of Sapporo where you can play in the water without any fuss. In 2026 it is open from Monday, June 1 to Sunday, September 20, from 10:00 to 16:00. Shallow water channels and fountains are located around West 2-chome / West 9-chome, and because the water is shallow, even children who have only just started walking can dip their feet and play. It is surrounded by lawn and trees, so adults can sit on a shaded bench and watch over them at leisure, which again is only possible in the city center. There are toilets and shops in the park, so you can pick up drinks and snacks on the spot. A subway station is right nearby, so even when everyone is worn out from playing, the way home is short, which is reassuring for families.

Tips

Opening may change due to weather, cleaning and other factors, so check the day's status before departing. You can use the park's toilets to change, but they get crowded at times, so moving early lets you get ready calmly. To avoid slipping on paving stones or curbs, having children wear water play sandals is reassuring. It ends at 16:00, so starting to pack up around 3:30 p.m. gives you time to head home comfortably.
