The Takuyu Park Water Play Area is a free water play spot in the Takuyu district of Tomakomai. In 2026 it is open from Monday, May 25 to Wednesday, September 30, from 10:00 to 16:00. Its season is long among the city's water play areas, and being able to visit from early summer to the doorstep of autumn is its greatest feature. The water is shallow, so even children who have only just started walking can dip their feet in and play with confidence. Because the park is surrounded by a residential neighbourhood, adults can also take it easy on a bench or in the shade while keeping watch. Use is free, so you can let children play until they have had their fill.

Opening may change depending on weather or cleaning, so check the day's conditions in the Tomakomai city information before departing. In late May and late September the water is cold and the wind chilly, so always bring a light jacket and clothes that can be changed into straight away. Changing space is limited, so putting swimwear on under regular clothes makes getting ready on site much easier. It closes at 16:00, so starting to pack up around 15:30 leaves plenty of time to head home.

Arriving at 13:30 gives about 2 hours 30 minutes, plenty of play right up to closing.
