About this spot

One of Hokkaido's leading dairy farms, set among the wide pastures of Shinotsu in Ebetsu City. The grounds hold a cattle barn and a farm shop where you can taste milk, yoghurt and soft-serve ice cream made from the farm's own raw milk. The scale of the pasture and the sky stretching out in front of you is unique to the Ishikari Plain, and you notice the air change the moment you step out of the car. Watching the cows at leisure, or hearing how dairy products are made, gives children a natural prompt to think about where their food comes from. It is a place to begin the day in an unhurried mood, before the water play of the afternoon.

Tips

Check opening hours and closed days in advance. A farm is a place where living animals are raised, so always follow the guidance on where visitors may go. Soft-serve melts faster on hot days, so secure a seat in the shade before you buy and you can enjoy it calmly. There is a car park, making it an easy stop by car.

About 1 hour 15 minutes. The pastures feel at their best seen in the morning light.
