Mutsumi Amenity Park (むつみアメニティパーク) Wading Pool / Water Channel
About this spot
The Mutsumi Amenity Park (むつみアメニティパーク) Wading Pool / Water Channel is a free water play spot in Otofuke Town. In a typical year the water runs from Friday, May 1 to Wednesday, September 30, with the central fountain operating 8:00-20:00 and the pond fountain 9:00-17:00 (Otofuke Town's own notice says "early May to late September"). What makes this park remarkable is that the water is not confined to one spot. A large central fountain, a water channel whose current you can follow, a shallow wading pool for dipping your feet, and a pond fountain — waterside settings offering different kinds of play are gathered in one place. There is also the spring-water plaza channel, a lawn plaza, and a landscaped mound, so the fun never stops even when the children tire of the water. Another major feature is the season lasting nearly five months, letting you come back again and again from early summer to the doorstep of autumn.

Tips
Opening conditions can change with the weather or maintenance work, so check the Otofuke Town information for the day's status before you leave. Tokachi mornings and evenings are chilly in early May and late September, so always bring an extra layer and clothes that are quick to change into. The pond fountain runs only until 17:00, so if you plan to play there, arriving early is the sure bet. Shade is limited on the lawn plaza, so a pop-up tent or picnic sheet makes resting easier.
Best time to visit
Arriving at 13:40 gives you about 3 hours, playing until the evening when the sun softens
