The Fushiko Park Water Play Area (伏古公園 水遊び場) is a free water-play spot in Fushiko Park (伏古公園) in Higashi Ward, Sapporo. It is usually open from Wednesday, July 1 to Thursday, August 20, from 10:00 to 16:00 (the City of Sapporo's notice says early July to mid-August). Because it is a shallow water-play area you need not worry about the depth, and even children who have only just started walking can play from the stage of simply dipping their feet. There is a management office and restrooms on site, and having someone to consult when trouble arises is reassuring for those with small children. Families from the neighborhood make up most of the visitors, so there are no lines or waiting and you can spend the time at your own pace. It is also on a scale where adults can see the whole area from a bench in the shade, which adds to the peace of mind.
