The Higashinaebo Kita Park Water Play Area (東苗穂北公園 水遊び場) is a shallow water play spot that appears only in summer at Higashinaebo Kita Park in Higashi Ward, Sapporo. In 2026 it is open from Friday, July 3 to Sunday, August 23, from 10:00 to 16:00, and admission is free. The water is shallow, so even children who have only just started walking can stand on their own feet and play. There are no swap-over times or queues as at a pool: you get in when you feel like it and rest in the shade when you tire, and that free rhythm is the charm of a park water play area. Because it is where neighbourhood children gather, you'll see kids strike up play with someone they met for the first time that day. After walking Moerenuma Park and Satoland in the morning, finishing in the water rounds the day off neatly.

Open 10:00 to 16:00. It may close for bad weather, cleaning or water quality management, so check the City of Sapporo notices for that day's status before setting out. There is no changing room, so wear swimwear underneath or bring a wrap towel so you can change. Sapporo summers turn cool suddenly once the sun goes in, so always bring a layer to put on after getting out. Shade is limited, so a picnic sheet makes breaks far more comfortable.

Best time to visit

Arrive at 14:10 and you can play until the sun softens, enjoying it fully right up to the 16:00 close
