About this spot

Located in Okadama-cho, Higashi Ward, Sapporo, this is the airport closest to the city centre. Unlike a major airport lined with jets, it is a small airport where propeller planes take the lead, so the runway and aircraft are close by and you can look up at take-offs and landings from right nearby. From the terminal's observation deck, children love being able to follow the whole sequence from start to finish as a plane turns, accelerates and lifts its nose. There is also an indoor waiting area, so on days with strong sunshine you can move in and out as you like. The sense that the airport is part of everyday life in this town is a sight unique to Okadama.

丘珠公園水遊び場は、札幌市東区の丘珠公園に夏だけ登場する浅い水遊び場です。2026年は7月3日(金)から8月23日(日)まで、10:00〜16:00に開放され、利用は無料です。水深が浅いため、歩き始めたばかりの子でも自分の足で立って遊べるのが安心なところ。入れ替えや順番待ちがないので、遊びたいときに入り、疲れたら木陰で休むという自由なリズムで過ごせます。近所の子どもたちが集まるので、その日はじめて会った子と自然に遊びはじめる姿もよく見られます。空港で飛行機を見上げた午前と対になる、体をめいっぱい使う午後です。

Tips

開放は10:00〜16:00です。天候不良や清掃、水質管理の都合で休みになる日があるため、出発前に札幌市の案内で当日の状況を確認してください。更衣室はないので、水着は下に着ていくか、ラップタオルなどで着替えられる用意をしておきましょう。札幌の夏は日が陰ると急に涼しくなるため、上がったあとに羽織る一枚が必要です。日陰が少ない時間帯もあるので、レジャーシートと帽子があると休憩が楽になります。

Tips

There aren't many flights, so looking up arrival and departure times in advance means you can see aircraft without waiting. The observation deck can be windy on some days, so hold on to your hat. There are toilets in the terminal, so it's reassuring to use them here before heading to the park. Follow the on-site notices for parking conditions.
