The Higashi-Sapporo Park Water Play Area is a wading pool that appears only in summer at Higashi-Sapporo Park (東札幌公園) in Shiroishi Ward, Sapporo. In 2026 it is open from Friday, July 10 to Monday, August 31, from 10:00 to 16:30, and admission is free. The pool is larger than those at other parks' water play areas, with just the right amount of room for preschoolers through lower and middle elementary school children to run around. The water is shallow, so even toddlers who have just started walking can stand on their own feet, which is reassuring. There are no rotations or queues, so you can keep a free rhythm: get in when you feel like it, rest in the shade when you tire. Since it is a gathering place for neighborhood children, you will often see kids start playing with someone they met that very day.
