Tsukisamu Park Water Play Area is a shallow summer-only water playground in Tsukisamu Park (月寒公園), Toyohira Ward, Sapporo. It usually runs from July 1 (Wed) to August 31 (Mon), 9:00-17:00, with the city of Sapporo describing the season as "early July to late August." Admission is free. Because it sits in the same park as the big play structures, the boat pond and the Park Life Center, you can move back and forth as you like: playground equipment when you tire of the water, indoor rest when you get cold. That is this water play area's greatest strength. The water is shallow, so even children who have only just started walking can stand on their own feet and play. With a nursing room and toilets on site, it is reassuringly easy to plan a visit even with a baby.

There are no changing rooms, so wear swimwear underneath your clothes, or be ready to change in the Park Life Center toilets. Summer evenings in Sapporo turn cool the moment the sun goes in, so always bring something to put on after getting out of the water.
