The Hiraoka Minami Park Water Play Area is a shallow water play spot that appears only in summer at Hiraoka Minami Park (平岡南公園) in Kiyota Ward, Sapporo. In 2026 it is open from Sunday, July 5 to Sunday, August 23, from 9:00 to 17:00, and admission is free. Water play areas in Kiyota Ward open for 50 days from the first Sunday of July, so you can come back as often as you like throughout the summer holidays, which is a real blessing. The water is shallow enough that even children who have only just started walking can stand on their own feet and play. There are no timed sessions or queues, so you can get in whenever you feel like it and rest in the shade when you tire, which is the great appeal of a park water play area. Another strength of this itinerary is that legs tired from the morning's boardwalk walk get to cool off in the water at the end of the day.
