A quiet shrine wrapped in trees, right next to Nakajima Park (中島公園). Although it sits in the heart of the city, the air changes the moment you pass through the torii gate, leaving only the sound of cicadas and gravel underfoot. The sequence of purifying your hands at the water basin and bowing before the hall is like a small ceremony for children, and it stays in their memory. The precincts are just the right size, so even little ones can walk a full circuit without getting tired. You can walk to and from Nakajima Park, which makes it easy to link up the morning plans.

ライラック公園水遊び場は、札幌市豊平区のライラック公園にある夏だけの浅い水遊び場です。豊平区の水遊び場は例年7月1日(水)から8月31日(月)まで、9:00〜17:00の開放で、札幌市の案内では「7月上旬〜8月下旬」と示されていますが、ライラック公園は例年7月下旬からの開放になります。利用は無料です。水深が浅いため、歩き始めたばかりの子でも自分の足で立って遊べるのが安心なところ。入れ替えや順番待ちがなく、遊びたいときに入って疲れたら木陰で休むという自由なリズムで過ごせます。夏休みの後半に近所で水遊びをしたいとき、頼りになる場所です。

Tips

ライラック公園は例年7月下旬からの開放になるため、7月前半に行く予定なら必ず事前に札幌市の案内で開始日を確認してください。天候や清掃の都合で開放が休みになる日もあります。更衣室はないので、水着は下に着ていくか、ラップタオルなどで着替えられる用意をしておきましょう。札幌の夏は日が陰ると急に涼しくなるので、上がったあとに羽織る一枚を必ず持っていってください。

Tips

Agreeing with your children beforehand to be quiet and to bow before the torii gate helps everyone stay calm. There is no shop inside the precincts, so prepare drinks before you set out. It can get crowded on days with ceremonies, so follow the on-site guidance for parking. Since you can walk to Nakajima Park, deciding where to leave the car first makes the day more efficient.
