A memorial hall in Makomanai, Minami-ku, presenting the achievements of Edwin Dun, a foreign advisor of the Meiji period. Dun introduced Western livestock-farming techniques to Hokkaido, and a large pasture once spread across what is now the Makomanai district. Photographs and tools from the era are on display inside, giving a concrete picture of what this land looked like before it became a residential area. The building itself is a charming wooden structure in Western style, and its green-framed exterior is a highlight in its own right. Admission is free, so an hour in the morning here is an easy addition.

札幌市南区の真駒内曙公園にある「真駒内曙公園水遊び場」は、無料で利用できる浅い水遊び場です。2026年の開設期間は7月10日(金)から8月25日(火)まで、時間は10:00〜16:00となっています。水深が浅いので、まだ泳げない小さな子どもでも自分の足で歩いて入っていけます。住宅街のなかの公園らしい親しみやすさがあり、地元の子どもたちと自然に混じって遊べるのもこの場所のよさです。入れ替えの時間がないため、遊んでは休み、また遊ぶという子どものペースをそのまま受け止めてくれます。料金は無料なので、午後だけ短く立ち寄ることもできます。

Tips

終了は16:00です。着替えと片づけの時間を見て15:45ごろには水から上がりましょう。天候や水温、清掃作業によって利用できない日があるため、出かける前に札幌市の案内ページで当日の状況を確認してください。日陰が少ない時間帯があるので、帽子と日焼け止めは忘れずに。おむつが取れていない子は水遊び用おむつを用意しましょう。
