This is a large shopping mall in Tomakomai with restaurants and a food court. Each family member can choose something different, so even with children whose tastes differ, everything is settled in one place. Being indoors and air-conditioned, you can ride out the strongest sunlight without using up energy. Drinks and snacks for the afternoon water play, or a towel you forgot, can all be picked up here. Restrooms and diaper-changing facilities are in place too, so finish all your preparations for the afternoon here.

草笛公園水遊び場は、苫小牧市の草笛公園にある浅い水遊び場です。例年は6月1日(月)から9月7日(月)まで、9:00〜18:00に開放され、苫小牧市の案内では6月初旬から9月初旬までと示されています。利用は無料で、水深が浅いため歩き始めたばかりの子でも自分の足で立って遊べます。開放が18:00までと長いので、昼食のあとからでも十分な時間を確保できるのがこの場所の利点です。住宅街の中にある公園なので、近所の子どもたちが自然に集まり、その日はじめて会った子と一緒に走り出すこともよくあります。入場料も入れ替えもないので、遊んでは休んでを子どものペースで繰り返せます。

Tips

開放は9:00〜18:00ですが、開設期間は年によって前後します。出かける前に苫小牧市の案内で当日の状況を必ず確認してください。天候不良や清掃、水質管理の都合で休みになることもあります。更衣室は用意されていない前提で、水着は下に着ていくと着替えが楽になります。日陰は限られるのでレジャーシートと帽子を持参し、上がったあとに羽織れる薄手の一枚も忘れずに用意しましょう。

Tips

Seats fill up quickly at lunchtime, so secure a table first and then go to order, and you can eat calmly. Doing your shopping after the meal saves you from carrying bags around. The parking lot is large, so take a photo of where you parked and you will not get lost on the way back. Put swimwear on underneath here and you can start playing as soon as you reach the park.
