Haskap is a berry that grows only in limited parts of Hokkaido, and the area around Tomakomai has long been known for producing it. Because the jam covers even the outer surface, it is famous for making your hands sticky as you eat, yet that very mess is loved as part of the local specialty. The name Yoitomake is said to come from a work chant of the paper-making industry that supported this town. A single sweet reveals how the town came to be, which gives you plenty to talk about with your children while you eat.

Check the business hours and regular closing days in advance. Yoitomake makes your hands sticky, so having wet wipes ready gives peace of mind.
