The Hokusei Park Wading Pool (北星公園 徒渉池) is a free water-play spot in Hokusei Park in Tomakomai City. In 2026 it is open from Monday, May 25 to Wednesday, September 30, from 10:00 to 17:00. Alongside the wading pool there are also fountains, so children who dislike getting into water can ease in from the fountain side. The water is shallow, so even a child who has just started walking can stand and play on their own feet, which is reassuring. A strength of this park is that it does not end with water play: there is a multipurpose lawn area and a large play structure, so children tired of the water can move straight on to dry-land play. Since the season runs from late May to late September, you can plan a visit outside the summer-holiday crowds.

Hokkaido summer evenings cool off sharply once the sun drops, so bring a light layer to put on after getting out of the water.
