About this spot

This is an old temple in Hiraga, Matsudo, notable for its long approach and spacious precincts. It is known as a spot for hydrangeas and autumn foliage, but in summer the greenery is dense, and you can feel the air change simply by walking among the trees. The temple halls are laid out with plenty of space, so walking with children never feels rushed. There are ponds and shaded benches in the precincts, so being able to go around with rests along the way is helpful too. There are no flashy attractions, but spending quiet time here settles the rest of the day.

Tips

There are periods when an admission fee is charged for visiting. Check the amount and the opening hours in the official information before you head over. The approach is gravel and stone paving, so easy-to-walk-in shoes are a safe choice. The precincts are a quiet place, so tell children in advance not to run around. There is plenty of shade, so even on a summer morning you can walk in relative coolness.
