Karako-Kagi Site Historical Park (唐古・鍵遺跡史跡公園)

About this spot

The remains of a large moated settlement representative of the Yayoi period have been developed into a spacious historical park. The landmark is a wooden tower reconstructed from a picture found on excavated pottery; it is far taller than expected, and children invariably stop to look up. The traces of the moat that surrounded the village also remain in the terrain, giving parents and children a reason to talk about why a settlement needed to be ringed with waterways. The wide, unobstructed grassland is a perfect place for children at the age when they want to run around. A roadside station right next door means you need not worry about breaks or restrooms.

「しきのみちはせがわ展望公園すいせんの丘(せせらぎ・噴水)」は、大和川(初瀬川)沿いに続く河川ルート公園の5号広場にある無料の水遊び場です。田原本町の公式案内によると、噴水の稼働期間は令和8年(2026年)6月13日(土曜日)から9月30日(水曜日)まで、時間は午前9時から午後5時までを予定しています。水の流れるせせらぎと噴水があるので、深さを気にせず小さな子から遊ばせられるのが大きな安心材料です。面積8,644平方メートルの広場には休憩所と遊具のコーナー、散歩道、バラ園が整い、水に飽きたら遊具、遊具に飽きたらまた水と、子どもが自分のペースで遊び続けられます。堤防沿いの見晴らしがよく、川風が通るので木陰に座っているだけでも涼しく過ごせます。料金は無料なので、短時間だけ立ち寄る使い方もできます。

Tips

噴水は午後5時までの予定なので、着替えの時間を見込んで16時30分ごろに水から上がると落ち着いて帰れます。稼働は予定であり天候などで変わる場合があるため、出発前に田原本町の公式案内で確認してください。日陰は休憩所と木立まわりに限られるので、レジャーシートと帽子があると休憩が楽になります。水遊びのあとは水道で足をよく洗い、着替えてから遊具に移ると気持ちよく遊べます。おむつが取れていない子は水遊び用おむつを用意しましょう。

Tips

There is little shade, so a hat and drinks are essential. In midsummer it is safer to walk briefly in the early morning rather than linger. The grass turns muddy after rain, so shoes you do not mind getting dirty are reassuring. Using the parking lot at the adjacent roadside station keeps the walk short.
