You Cannot Play Alone Water Play Area at Orange Park Funahashi

The You Cannot Play Alone Water Play Area is a free water play spot at Orange Park Funahashi, inside Kyotsubogawa Riverside Park (京坪川河川公園) in Funahashi Village (舟橋村). Just as the name says, nobody can play unless someone draws water up with the hand pump, and the water that is pumped flows down into the splash pond and the mud slope. Because children have to take turns between pumping and catching the water, even children meeting for the first time naturally start calling out to one another, and that is the greatest charm of this playground. It was built together with a child of the village (the Children's Park Director) and through crowdfunding, so it is also a place that gives shape to the wishes of local residents. The opening period has not been announced, and although the park is open all day there is no official statement about when water runs at the play area. The park also has a large combination playset, the Secret Base (秘密基地) with bouldering and a slide, and a lawn area, so there is never a shortage of places to play even once the water loses its appeal.

There is no official statement about when water runs at the play area, so contacting Funahashi Village (舟橋村) before you visit is the sure way to know. There is a mud slope, so assume that both clothes and bodies will end up covered in mud and bring plenty of spare clothes and towels. A bag for muddy clothes and a mat to protect your car seats make the trip home much easier. The pump takes some strength, so small children should push it together with an adult. Shade is limited, so drink often and take regular breaks.

Best time to visit

About 2 hours 30 minutes. The afternoon, when the sun softens, is recommended, and the pump play is livelier when there are plenty of children around.
