Tokuyama Station North Exit Plaza Fountain Area
About this spot
This is the water feature Tokuyama Station North Exit Plaza Fountain Area in the station plaza at the north exit of JR Tokuyama Station. No seasonal opening period is set and it operates year-round, with operating hours from 10:30 to 22:00. Water begins to fill from 10:00, after which it repeats a cycle of 59 minutes running and 1 minute stopped (Shunan City official page, updated June 11, 2026). The water is shallow, so even small children can play at their own pace, standing under the rising water or walking with their feet in it, and the water is chlorine-treated and circulated by pump. At night it is lit up, and the scene where water and light overlap has a completely different face from the daytime. Its greatest charm is how easy it is to drop in on a whim when you come by train, since it is right by the station ticket gates.

Tips
Shunan City provides official guidance on how to use the water play area. Please follow it: wear footwear such as water shoes; do not use the area barefoot or lying down; because it is not a swimming pool you must play with your clothes on; play that gets diapers wet is not allowed; the water is not drinkable; do not run; small children must not play alone; and pets are not allowed. Operation may be suspended in rainy weather, so check the city's official page on days when the forecast is uncertain. Prepare a change of clothes and a towel for each person.
Best time to visit
About 2 hours 30 minutes. It is comfortable after 15:00 when the sunlight softens, and since it runs until 22:00 you can also enjoy the illumination after sunset
