Motosu City is known as a producing area for the Fuyu persimmon, the representative variety of sweet persimmon, and a roadside station bearing its name stands in the area of the former Itonuki Town. The direct-sales corner is lined with vegetables and fruit brought in by local farmers, and just watching the lineup change with the seasons is a pleasure. Even outside persimmon season you will find flavors unique to Motosu, such as local processed goods and sweets. Stop by at the start of your outing to pick up snacks and drinks for the park, and your packing is complete. There are rest areas and restrooms too, making it an easy starting point for families with small children.
Tips
Stopping by is free. Check the roadside station's information for business hours and closed days. If you buy fresh produce, an insulated bag is reassuring. The selection is best in the morning, and popular items can sell out early.
Best time to visit
About 1 hour. Early morning, when the selection is widest, is recommended
