Kodomo no Mori (International Year of the Child Memorial Park) Fountain Plaza
About this spot
Kodomo no Mori (International Year of the Child Memorial Park) Fountain Plaza in Kita Ward, Okayama City, is a free water-play spot where children can splash to their heart's content in summer. The roughly 2.6-hectare grounds are packed with equipment such as a roller slide, a stone slide and an adventure playground, so a whole day passes without tiring of either the water or the play structures. Cooling off in the fountain spray, then heading to the slides while drying out, then back again is a cycle children find irresistible. There are many trees, which helps accompanying adults find shade to rest in. True to its name as a park made for children, the layout of the equipment is designed to keep them absorbed.
Tips
The 2026 operating period has not been announced. In past years it has run through the summer holidays, so check the Okayama City information before you set out to see whether the water will be on that day. Bring a change of clothes and a towel for each person, and do not forget a plastic bag for wet clothing. The roller slide can get hot or chafe, so drying off before riding rather than going on soaking wet is more comfortable. Shade is mainly under the trees, so bringing a picnic sheet to make your own rest spot prevents fatigue over a long stay.
Best time to visit
