Inata Shrine (稲田神社)

About this spot

A shrine standing in a village of Okuizumo Town, enshrining Inatahime-no-Mikoto (稲田姫命). This land is deeply connected to the myth of Yamata-no-Orochi, the eight-headed serpent, and in the precinct surrounded by quiet cedar groves the very air seems to change as you walk the approach. The visit itself takes only a short time, so it is no burden even with small children. Within the grounds there is a place to enjoy soba, letting you have a lunch that is characteristic of Okuizumo. Walking the stage of a myth and then heading off for water play is a uniquely Okuizumo way to put a day together.

わくわくプール (斐乃上温泉の温泉水プール)は、仁多郡奥出雲町竹崎にある無料の水遊び場です。日本三大美肌の湯として知られる斐乃上温泉の温泉水を引いた、大小2つの浅いプールがあります。水深は約30cmと浅く、歩き始めの小さな子でも足をつけて遊べるのが最大の安心材料です。2026年は4月10日から利用開始で、例年11月中旬まで開いているため、真夏だけでなく春や秋のおでかけ先にもなります。温泉水なので水が冷たすぎず、水遊びが苦手な子でも入りやすいのがこの場所ならでは。更衣室とトイレが完備されているので、着替えの心配が少なく、思い立って立ち寄る使い方もできます。

Tips

毎月第2・第4水曜の午前は清掃のため利用できません。この時間帯を避けて計画してください。おむつ着用の幼児は水遊び用おむつが必須です。忘れると入れないので、必ず持参しましょう。利用開始日や終了時期は年によって変わるため、出発前に奥出雲町観光協会のページ(https://okuizumo.org/jp/guide/detail/238/)で確認してください。山あいで日陰が限られるので、帽子と日焼け止め、休憩用の飲み物を用意しておくと安心です。温泉水とはいえ長時間入ると体が冷えるので、こまめに休憩をはさみましょう。

Tips

The dining facility in the precinct may have limited opening days and hours, so it is safest to check in advance or to bring a boxed lunch as well. A shrine is also part of daily life here, so stay quiet within the grounds and park only in the designated spaces. Avoid going into the water right after eating; rest for about 30 minutes before heading to the pool.
