National Echigo Hillside Park (国営越後丘陵公園)
About this spot
One of the signature attractions of National Echigo Hillside Park is a rose garden built around the theme of fragrance. The flowers can be enjoyed over a long season from spring to autumn, and in summer you can see summer roses that keep blooming even under strong sunlight. Because the planting makes scent, rather than color, the main attraction, you can play a game with your children of leaning in close and hunting for the differences between sweet scents and fruity ones. Paths continue along the gentle contours of the hills, and just walking while taking photos makes the time fly. Moving your body in the morning before the water play makes getting into the water in the afternoon feel even better.

国営越後丘陵公園 水遊び広場は、令和8年度の開放予定として7月4日(土)から9月13日(日)まで、9:30〜16:45の開放が公式に発表されている水遊び場です。ウォーターマシンガン、人力水車、ウォータートンネル、ウォータードーム、ウォーターステップ、ウォーターツリーなど12種類の水遊具があり、順に回るだけで長い時間遊べます。水深は10〜20cmと浅く、小さな子どもでも自分の足で歩いて遊具のあいだを行き来できるのが安心なところ。日除けテントが併設されているので、体が冷えたり日差しが強かったりしたら、こまめに休憩を入れましょう。親水池のみプールと同様の水質管理が行われており、水遊び用おむつを着けていれば乳幼児も入水できます。利用は無料で、別途、公園の入園料が必要です。
Tips
16:30に噴水等が停止するので、遊びを切り上げるタイミングはそこを目安にしてください。乳幼児が入水できるのは親水池のみで、水遊び用おむつの着用が必要です。濡れた足で歩くことになるため、脱げにくいサンダルやマリンシューズがあると安全。天候や気温によって開放が見送られる日があるので、出発前に公園の公式サイトで当日の状況を確認しておくと確実です。着替えとタオルは人数分、余裕をもって用意してください。
Tips
There is little shade during summer days, so be sure to carry a hat and drinks as you walk. Insects gather around the flowers in this season, so telling small children in advance not to reach out is reassuring. The paths are maintained so that strollers can pass as well.
